Let’s Talk Butte with Former Miner and Policeman Joe Lee

Today on Let’s Talk Butte, we hear excerpt of an oral history with longtime Butte under sheriff Joe Lee. Joe starts off today’s show talking about his dad’s work in the mines, and trials in tribulations he experienced as a result of a strike. His work in the mines was only a precursor to his long career running a grocery store on second street.

Joe Lee has a long career in law enforcement in Butte, and was under sheriff for more than 20 years. His oral history will be on file at the Butte Silver Bow Archives, and is part of an ongoing project funded by the NEH. This has been Let’s Talk Butte, where we hear stories about Butte, Montana, and come to understand the place a little better each week.
